Research

Research is an integral part of the Mission and Vision of Parkland Health. Research at Parkland Health encompasses clinical, translational, quality, outcomes and cost-effectiveness research aimed at improving the healthcare system and the patients and communities served.

The Office of Research Administration (ORA) was established to support Parkland’s goal of providing a high standard of quality care for its patients while facilitating research that supports the mission and vision for the organization. The ORA focuses on creating a research-enabling environment that allows Parkland to participate in and lead quality research, while ensuring compliance with institutional policy, sponsor requirements, and local and federal regulations.

Whether you are contemplating your first research proposal or are an experienced investigator, the Parkland Office of Research Administration (ORA) is here to help you navigate today’s complex research landscape and guide you through Parkland and sponsor requirements. The Office of Research Administration provides:

  • Assistance with identification of funding opportunities
  • Assistance with proposal development
  • Central research grants and contracts administration
  • Study feasibility assessment
  • Study site approval (required for all research conducted at Parkland)
  • Assistance with clinical trial logistics and services (pharmacy, radiology, pathology, IT, etc.)
  • Clinical trial budgeting, billing and invoicing
  • Parkland-specific education and training for research investigators and key personnel
  • Research credentialing and access for non-MD, non-Parkland research team members
  • Facilitation of data requests

Additionally, we work closely with various Research partners, centers and affiliates, including the Parkland Health Foundation, UT Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Medical Center.
