Palliative Care

If you or a loved one is facing a serious illness, you are not alone. The Palliative Care team at Parkland is here to help you and your family with physical, spiritual and emotional care and comfort.

Palliative care is provided by a team of healthcare providers such as doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplains and other trained specialists. The team works with you, your family and your other providers to add an extra layer of support and relief that complements your ongoing care.

The Palliative Care Team Will Help You

  • Cancer and bone marrow disorders
  • Advanced heart disease
  • Advanced liver disease
  • Advanced kidney disease
  • Advanced lung disease
  • Advanced neurologic disorders

Parkland’s Palliative Care team works closely with other Parkland services, such as Pharmacy, as well as a variety of community organizations, such as the American Cancer Society, to put the best support system in place for our patients and their caregivers. Hospice care is coordinated with several community agencies for eligible patients.

Services are provided to inpatients at Parkland or as outpatients through our Palliative Care Clinic. Our goal is to ensure our patients can remain in the comfort of their home as much as possible. The team maintains frequent telephone contact with patients and caregivers to accomplish this.
