Parkland Academy – Career Observation Program

The Career Observation Program provides individuals with the opportunity to shadow medical professionals in their area of interest to help them make informed career decisions. Observers witness firsthand the work environment, occupation in practice, the value of professional training and potential career options. The experience is designed to increase career awareness, fulfill education/application requirement and help model behavior through example.

In the fall of 2013, Parkland recognized the benefits of initiating an observation program and since then implemented the program, Parkland Academy – Career Observation Program (PA-COP). Many requests are received from people interested in various aspects of healthcare. PA-COP has 3 observation experiences that, based on the duration, will determine which experience would be most appropriate.

The Career Observation Program application is due six weeks prior to the desired start date of the observation experience. For example, if a desired observation start date is March 4, 2024, the complete and correct application is due no later than January 22, 2024.
