Multi-Semester Collegiate Internship Program
The Multi-Semester Collegiate Internship Program at Parkland Health provides emerging professionals with critical skills, an operational relationship network and real-world experience to prepare them to assume future positions within the healthcare industry.
The Department of Workforce Development, along with onsite functional supervisors, help mentor and develop participants to be future Parkland employees through experiential education. This opportunity provides practical work experience in the hospital system, while enhancing the individual’s professional competencies and knowledge.
Each intern will complete a major, strategically aligned project to gain educational experience in their field of study, while also contributing to Parkland’s mission. Additionally, there are opportunities to participate in enrichment activities, operational tours, workshops, lectures and career advisement arranged by Workforce Development. During their 12-month experience, interns can expect to utilize their education and leverage the resources of a large and integrated healthcare organization, helping them for future success.

Being an intern at Parkland for the past eight months has been a more-than-rewarding experience. Working with the Community Social Impact Department and contributing to their mission and goals with the Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC), findhelp.org and community health workers gave me the opportunity to experience different areas of the department. I'm also very grateful for the many professional development events that I attended, and I hope to make use of these skills and knowledge in providing better care for patients in the future.
