Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) offers highly specialized services for infants with significant health issues at the time of birth. Our NICU staff cares for more than 1,300 newborns each year, averaging about 100 newborns every month.
Our dedicated NICU staff is made up of highly trained doctors, nurses and support staff who specialize in caring for Parkland’s tiniest and most fragile patients. Also on staff are physical and occupational therapists, speech therapists, child life specialists and social workers, as well as nutritionists, pharmacists and more.
Our neonatal family support specialist is a highly trained registered nurse who provides support to NICU families by keeping them informed of their infant’s condition and helping families play an active role in their infant’s plan of care.
