She is a fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and continues to be an advocate and active member in the pharmacy profession. Dr. Johnson has been appointed to the ASHP Pharmacy Executive Leadership Alliance Advisory Panel and the ASHP Task Force on Racial Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Daily activities can include (but not limited to) responding to and participating in cardiac arrests, level 1 trauma activations, rapid sequence intubation, code strokes, STEMI alerts, sepsis alerts, overdoses, poisonings and envenomations. His special interests include management of venomous bites and stings and is an active member of AACT.

Dr. Wei also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Division of Infectious Diseases and provides education to medical students, physician assistant students, and ID fellows.

He is positioned in the Infectious Diseases/Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy Clinic where he works under a collaborative practice agreements to manage patients’ ambulatory antimicrobial therapy and chronic disease states, receives consults form providers on antimicrobial therapy plans, and rounds with the Infectious Diseases Bone and Joint Consult Team to ensure safe and effective transitions of care for this patient population. He serves a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents in the PGY1, PGY2 Infectious Diseases, and PGY2 Ambulatory Care programs.

Current Practice – Dr. Bailey manages the appropriate diagnosis and treatment of patients residing in the Dallas County Jail. In addition to infectious processes, Dr. Bailey manages all disease states for those patients assigned to the infirmary for treatment and monitoring. Their disease states range from chronic heart failure to acute pain management. The infirmary is largely housed with diabetics, hypertensives, and cancer patients. She is currently a licensed preceptor for pharmacy students throughout the nation.

Current Practice - Dr. Downs is one of the Psychiatric Clinical Pharmacy Specialists and serves as a preceptor for the PGY1 Psychiatry rotation. Along with the other Psychiatric specialists, she rotates to cover Psychiatric services including the Psychiatric Emergency Department, Inpatient Psychiatry Unit, Consult Liaison Psychiatry, and Behavioral Health Clinic. Dr. Downs helps provide care for patients with mental health and substance use disorders by completing consults, attending rounds and treatment team meetings, and completing patient care visits in clinic. Dr. Downs is passionate about advocating for this underserved population and is actively involved in the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists.

Current Practice – Dr. Kooner is a Psychiatric Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Parkland. Her current practice involves providing clinical services and collaborating with teams on the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit, consult services (addictions and psychiatry), and the Psychiatric Emergency Department. Dr. Kooner also provides smoking cessation and MTM services at Parkland’s Behavioral Health Clinic. She is also an active member of the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists (AAPP).

Current Practice – Dr. Mui practices in correctional health, providing collaborative care for patients experiencing substance use disorders (with a focus on OUD) and other psychiatric illnesses. She precepts both PGY1/PGY2 pharmacy residents and pharmacy students, and also delivers lectures to UTSW psychiatry residents. She is an active member of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists/American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists.

Jennifer Nelson, PharmD, BCPP – Psychiatry Clinical Pharmacy Specialist

Psychiatry Specialty Residency – Western Missouri Mental Health Center in Kansas City, Missouri
Current Practice – Dr. Nelson is currently the Psychiatry Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Parkland. Her clinical duties include managing around 200 psychiatry patients a month in clinic at the Dallas County Jail, with disease states ranging from schizophrenia to bipolar disorder to depression. She participates in many teaching activities including mid-level lectures, TIMA lectures, mentors UT and Texas Tech students, and is the PGY2 Psychiatry Program Director. She is an active member of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists.
