People often don’t get the mental health services they need because they don’t know where to start. Talk to your primary care doctor or another health professional about your mental health problems. Ask them to connect you with the right mental health services.

If you do not have a health professional who is able to assist you, use these resources to find help for yourself, your friends, your family, or your students.

Emergency Medical Services, 911

If the situation is potentially life-threatening, get immediate emergency assistance by calling 911. RIGHT Care responds to mental health 911 calls in the City of Dallas.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

If you or someone you know is suicidal or in emotional distress, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Trained crisis workers are available to talk 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your confidential and toll-free call goes to the nearest crisis center in the Lifeline national network. These centers provide crisis counseling and mental health referrals.

Veterans Crisis Line

The Veterans Crisis Line is a free, confidential resource that connects veterans 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a trained responder. The service is available to all veterans and those who support them, even if they are not registered with the VA or enrolled in VA healthcare. Dial 988 then press 1. 

Disaster Distress Helpline

The disaster distress helpline provides immediate crisis counseling for people who are experiencing emotional distress related to any natural or human-caused disaster. The helpline is free, multilingual, confidential, and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you are worried about a friend’s social media updates, you can contact safety teams at the social media company. They will reach out to connect the person with the help they need.

The Trevor Project

National Domestic Violence Hotline

The National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline

Caregiver Help Desk

Contact Caregiver Action Network's Care Support Team by dialing 855-227-3640. Staffed by caregiving experts, the Help Desk helps you find the right information you need to help you navigate your complex caregiving challenges. Caregiving experts are available 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. ET.

The Partnership For Drug-Free Kids Helpline

Call 1-855-378-4373 if you are having difficulty accessing support for your family, or a loved one struggling with addiction faces care or treatment challenges resulting from COVID-19 circumstances, the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids' specialists can guide you. Support is available in English and Spanish, from 9 a.m. - midnight ET weekdays and noon - 5 p.m. ET on weekends.

Call 866-260-8000 to be connected with mental health professionals who help adults and children experiencing a mental health crisis. Crisis intervention is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
