Pharmacy Residency (PGY1)
Accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Parkland’s Post-Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency is a postgraduate learning program designed to provide you with experience in all aspects of contemporary pharmacy practice.
Upon completing this residency, you will be a competent and confident practitioner in multiple patient care environments and will be prepared for a patient care position or for PGY2 training in your area of choice.
The program is customized to meet the education and learning experience requirements of the resident. In addition to core learning experiences, elective learning experiences are available. The Pharmacy Department has more than 30 practitioners who have completed residencies at numerous institutions throughout the United States. Preceptors serve on the Residency Advisory Council to direct the residency to a successful outcome.

PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Application Process
To apply for the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program, please submit all application items via the online pharmacy application service, PhORCAS:
- Must be eligible to work in the United States at time of selection
- Curriculum Vitae
- A one-page, double-spaced letter of intent. The letter should include why you would like to pursue a residency at Parkland and how both you and Parkland will benefit from the residency.
- Three completed references using standard PhORCAS template
- Copy of official pharmacy school transcripts
Application Deadline: January 2
Applications will be evaluated by members of the Residency Advisory Council. Candidates will be contacted via phone as needed. On-site interviews are held during February. All on-site candidates will prepare a 20-minute presentation on a topic of their choice for members of our Residency Advisory Council.
