    Current Practice: Dr. Alvarez has a background in service to under and uninsured populations as a Hospitalist Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, an Associate Director of Pharmacy for Inpatient and Ambulatory Clinical Services and currently serves as the Director of Innovation and Value at Parkland Health.

    Current Practice: Dr. Appleberry-Recker serves as the Director of Ambulatory Pharmacy, Clinical, and Specialty Services. In this role, she oversees all ambulatory services in Parkland Health’s Anderson clinic, Moody clinic, Employee pharmacy and Central fill replenishment center.

    Current Practice: Dr. Banks is the manager for the inpatient decentral pharmacists who service medicine, surgery, and the emergency department. Dr. Banks is also involved with formulary management and coordinates the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee activities.

    Current Practice: Dr. Johnson has spent the past 35 years providing healthcare services to the underserved in Dallas County.  Dr. Johnson has been the recipient of many awards including the 2010 Texas Pharmacy Leadership Award.  She is a fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and continues to be an advocate and active member in the pharmacy profession. Dr. Johnson has been appointed to the ASHP Pharmacy Executive Leadership Alliance Advisory Panel, the ASHP Task Force on Racial Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and serves as a member of the Board of Directors for ASHP.

    Current Practice: Dr. McNulty is one of two Medication Safety Officers at Parkland Health. Current activities include managing patient safety events, participating in quality improvement projects, and facilitating medication safety committee meetings. Dr. McNulty serves as the Residency Program Coordinator for the PGY1/PGY2 HSPAL residency and a preceptor for pharmacy residents and students. Outside of Parkland Health, Dr. McNulty is an active leader within ASHP’s New Practitioner Forum and actively participates in Vizient’s Quality Safety and Compliance Committee.

    Current Practice: Dr. Moss serves as the Pharmacy Manager of Ambulatory Care Clinical Services and has experience in developing and implementing ambulatory care services. Practice areas at Parkland Health include diabetes, hypertension, asthma/COPD, dyslipidemia, rheumatology, GI/Liver, anticoagulation, and pain management. Dr. Moss serves as the Residency Program Director for the PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency at Parkland Health.

    Current Practice: Dr. Mozaffari serves as the Pharmacy Manager of Investigational Drug Services and manages all aspects of operational, clinical, data extraction, compliance, and finance. Her responsibilities include overseeing all clinical trial activities for inpatient, outpatient, and oncology services to ensure compliance with all regulations. Dr. Mozaffari is an active member of TSHP, ACRP, and serves as a pharmacy preceptor for pharmacy interns and residents.

    Current Practice: Dr. Omorodion serves as the Pharmacy Manager of IV Sterile and Hazardous Compounding at Parkland Health. He is responsible for ensuring IV sterile compounding suites and personnel are compliant with USP Chapter <797> and <800> regulations as well compliance with Texas State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Dr. Omorodion also provides clinical support for the interdisciplinary nutrition support team.

With extensive experience in both hospital and ambulatory settings, she has successfully led and supported various operational and clinical programs. A strong advocate for patient-centered and cost-effective pharmacy care, Dr. Papillion is dedicated to enhancing healthcare outcomes and ensuring optimal patient experiences.

    Current Practice: Dr. Salzar is one of two Medication Safety Officers at Parkland Health covering all areas of pharmacy including Inpatient, Ambulatory and Correctional Health Services. Dr. Salzar helps to support the pharmacy team in preventing patient harm from medication errors and collaborating on performance improvement initiatives.

    Current Practice: Dr. Smith serves as the Clinical Pharmacy Manager for the acute care hospital and oncology. She leads a team of clinical pharmacists and clinical pharmacy specialists. Dr. Smith has previously served as a critical care clinical pharmacy specialist and as a pharmacy operations manager. Her areas of interest included quality improvement, clinical informatics, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the continued advancement of clinical pharmacy services.

    Current Practice: Dr. Chamberlain is a clinical pharmacy specialist who provides pain management consult services for patients admitted to the hospital. Her daily activities include attending rounds with the Palliative Care Service and providing pain management services to the hospital. Dr. Chamberlain has experience in retail pharmacy, inpatient clinical pharmacist staffing, nursing home consultation and counseling adolescents/adults in the field of psychology.

    Current Practice: Dr. Desai is a clinical pharmacy specialist who currently practices in Parkland Health’s 96-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Desai has specific areas of interest in sedation, pain management and infectious diseases in neonatal patients.

Dr. Epperson serves as the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program coordinator. She is also an active member of the ACCP Adult Medicine PRN.

Her current practice involves providing clinical services and collaborating with teams on the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit, consult services (addictions and psychiatry) and the Psychiatric Emergency Department. Dr. Kooner also provides smoking cessation and MTM services at Parkland’s Behavioral Health Clinic. She is also an active member of the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists (AAPP).

He is one of five infectious diseases pharmacists at Parkland Health where he rotates through the inpatient ID consult service, antimicrobial stewardship and facilitating transitions of care for patients discharging on home IV antibiotics. He is passionate about teaching and serves as both a preceptor and mentor for pharmacy residents and students. Additional areas of interest include microbiology and innovative process improvement.

    Current Practice: Dr. Ortwine is a clinical pharmacy specialist and is board-certified in infectious diseases.  Along with the other inpatient ID pharmacists, she rotates the responsibilities of rounding with the ID consult teams, performing antimicrobial stewardship activities, and facilitating transitions of care for patients discharging on IV antibiotics. She serves as a preceptor for both pharmacy residents and students and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.

    Current Practice: Dr. Pratt currently practices as the inpatient cardiology clinical pharmacy specialist at Parkland Health. She is board certified in critical care pharmacy. Her role entails rounding with the inpatient cardiology teams, providing clinical coverage for the CVICU, serving as a resource to members of the healthcare team, formulary management and quality improvement projects.

    Current Practice: Dr. Walsh is a board-certified clinical toxicologist practicing as the emergency medicine clinical pharmacy specialist in the Parkland Emergency Department. Daily activities can include response to cardiac arrests, level 1 trauma activations, rapid sequence intubation, code strokes, STEMI alerts, sepsis alerts, overdoses, poisonings, and envenomation's. His special interests include management of venomous bites and stings, and he is an active member of AACT.

    Current Practice: Dr. Wei is a clinical pharmacy specialist, board-certified in infectious diseases and one of five infectious diseases pharmacists at Parkland Health. She rotates monthly through the inpatient ID consult service, antimicrobial stewardship and outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) transitions of care. Dr. Wei values her role at Parkland, where she collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, practices stewardship, and ensures quality patient care through the mindful use of hospital resources. Passionate about learning and staying up to date with the latest literature, Dr. Wei strives to instill this same enthusiasm for continuous learning in her pharmacy students and residents. She also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Division of Infectious Diseases, where she provides education to medical students, physician assistant students and ID fellows.

    Current Practice: Dr. Akunna is a clinical pharmacy specialist who provides services at Parkland Health’s deHaro-Saldivar Health Center. Her practice areas include diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, congestive heart failure, anticoagulation and asthma/COPD management. Dr. Akunna assists with the multidisciplinary Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) clinic at her practice site. She is also an active member of the National and Dallas-Fort Worth Chapters of American College of Clinical Pharmacy.

    Current Practice: Dr. Basso is the internal medicine clinical pharmacy specialist in the Parkland Health Internal Medicine teaching clinic at the Moody Outpatient Center. She provides chronic disease state management to patients and collaborates with The University of Texas Southwestern internal medicine residents. She is an active member of the National and Dallas-Fort Worth Chapters of American College of Clinical Pharmacy and of the ACCP Ambulatory Care Practice and Research Networks (PRN). Practice areas include diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, heart failure, anticoagulation, asthma/COPD management, medication adherence, medication therapy management and medication education. She also leads a class with the multidisciplinary diabetes education team for patients with diabetes.

He is positioned in the Infectious Diseases/Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy Clinic, where he works under a collaborative practice agreement to manage patients’ ambulatory antimicrobial therapy and chronic disease states, receives consults form providers on antimicrobial therapy plans, and rounds with the Infectious Diseases Bone and Joint Consult Team to ensure safe and effective transitions of care for this patient population. Her clinical duties include managing a wide range of disease states including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression for over 200 psychiatric patients a month. In addition to her clinical duties, she also precepts multiple learners including pharmacy students, PGY1 pharmacy residents and physician assistant students. Dr. Nelson serves as the PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency Program Director and is an active member of the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists.
