Parkland COVID-19 Safety Measures
At Parkland, your health and safety are our top priority. We are committed to making your experience as smooth and pleasant as possible. It is important for you to maintain your health and get the essential care and services you need. You can feel safe getting that care at Parkland. Here are some of the things we’re doing to reduce the spread of germs and keep you and your loved ones healthy.
Masks
To stop the spread of COVID-19, all Parkland employees and visitors wear a mask inside all our buildings, including the hospital and all clinics. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you.
COVID-19 Screenings
To protect those who enter our doors, everyone is checked for symptoms of COVID-19 before entering. This includes questions about health and may include a temperature check.
Social Distancing
Patients and visitors are asked to keep a safe distance from each other. Approximately 6 feet in shared spaces such as waiting rooms and elevator lobbies.
Testing Prior To Surgery
For the safety of you and our staff, all patients scheduled for surgery are tested for COVID-19 within 72 hours of the procedure. If you have a surgery coming up, your provider will discuss the process for testing before you come to Parkland for your surgery.
Virtual Care
To help prevent being exposed to COVID-19, skip the trip to the clinic! If you need an appointment, please think about doing a virtual visit. If you already have a face-to-face appointment coming up, you can change your face-to-face visit to a virtual visit.
A virtual visit is an appointment with your healthcare provider that is done with a phone call or video chat. Instead of going to the clinic, your medical needs can be managed from your home or work. You can send a request a virtual visit in MyChart or call the clinic to ask for a virtual visit with your provider. Go to MyChart.pmh.org.
Visitors
While we understand the support of family and friends is an important part of your healing, we want to make sure that you receive care in a safe environment. Parkland is limiting visitors to the main campus at this time. We work with patients and their families to use video chats to help them keep in touch with each other during a hospital stay. Although Parkland currently has visitor limits in place, we continue to welcome a visitor or support person for some areas of the hospital, such as delivery of a new baby. Learn more about how to visit.
Your health is important to us. Do not put off any healthcare needs – especially emergency needs or chronic disease management – during the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn more about how to stay safe during COVID-19.
If you have questions, please call 214-590-8000 or email us. There is also a help desk at the main entry to Parkland Memorial Hospital.
Thank you for choosing Parkland.
