“Our Team Is Here for Your Team”

Parkland launches refreshed public health campaign to emphasize its commitment to community

Parkland Health is launching a new public health campaign focused on their commitment to the health of our community by highlighting various “teams” throughout Dallas such as churches, theater troupes and beauty salons. The goal is to educate the public on living healthy lives and to let residents know Parkland is here to support them with their healthcare needs.

“As a cornerstone of our community’s health, Parkland’s mission is to enhance the well-being of Dallas County residents. This campaign aims to build upon that to bring awareness to the diverse variety of services and accessible health center locations we offer to ensure all people in Dallas are healthy,” said April Foran, Director of Corporate Communications for Parkland Health.

Joining Parkland in promoting the campaign are community stakeholders and representatives from various local organizations, including Bishop Arts Theatre Center, Oak Cliff Pilates, Dramatic Results Salon & Spa, Friendship-West Baptist Church and the Parkland Patient and Family Advisory Council.

“We are all trying to help people who are underserved, that is what our church is all about,” said Vincent Hall, a member of the Praise Team and Social Justice Ministry at Friendship-West Baptist Church, and a member of the Parkland Health Board of Managers. “Everything we do is about uplifting the community, and that’s what Parkland does, too.”

Their stories illustrate the campaign’s focus on the importance of accessibility in healthcare services to ensure a healthier Dallas County. Beginning in early August, key Parkland team members and community partners will appear in images on Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) buses and trains, local advertisements and on social media along with messaging that promotes the many ways Parkland’s team is here for your team’s healthcare needs.

“Our salon is a place where you can be with family – blood doesn’t always make us family, but this team makes us feel wanted and we love each other and hold each other up. We try to make sure we’re all mentally healthy,” said Veta Jackson, a hair stylist at Dramatic Results Salon & Spa. “A healthy Dallas County for me is a place where people can feel safe, where if you’re having mental challenges, there’s always an outlet for you to go to – Parkland being one.”

Many factors can get in the way of seeking healthcare, including access to transportation, work hours, childcare and more. Parkland works to eliminate as many barriers as possible and make healthcare easier, by providing health services where you live and work. Parkland’s 15 Community Oriented Primary Care (COPC) health centers operate across the county offering primary care, pediatrics, pharmacy and specialty healthcare services. The clinics also offer Walk-in immunizations on Wednesdays, making tackling back-to-school easier regardless of your schedule.

In addition to the community clinics, Parkland operates health pop-ups at various community centers in the county, as part of the Access to Care & Coverage program. This network of health pop-ups serviced by Community Health Workers and Parkland Financial Assistance staff was created to connect residents to services, screenings and information in their own neighborhood with an emphasis on prevention and education.

Parkland also brings preventive healthcare directly to your neighborhood with mobile health services available to Dallas County residents. Each week, Parkland’s mobile mammography unit offers screening mammograms and breast health education at various locations in the county, and Parkland’s Population Health mobile vaccination clinic targets areas in Dallas County with low childhood immunization rates – providing vaccine services upon request and based on availability to children 18 years of age or younger.

Additionally, Parkland Health, in collaboration with Trust Her, an initiative of the nonprofit Child Poverty Action Lab (CPAL), recently deployed a brand-new women’s wellness mobile clinic that visits Dallas College campuses throughout the county to enhance access to family planning and women’s health services, in addition to services offered at Parkland’s Women’s Health Centers and specialty clinics.

This community-based approach is a vital arm of the Parkland system that stretches beyond the four walls of the hospital to provide health services that ensure your team is ready to achieve great things.
