Know the signs of a heart attack

Know the signs of a heart attack

A heart attack is a scary thing to happen to you or a loved one. Some heart attacks happen fast but most start slowly with little pain. Pay attention to your body and call 911 if you have any of these signs:

  • An uncomfortable feeling in your chest. It can feel like pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain. It can stay for a few minutes or come and go.
  • Pain in your upper body. This can be pain in one or both of your arms, back, jaw or stomach.
  • Shortness of breath. You may lose your breath with or without chest pain.
  • Other signs. Look out for things like getting a cold sweat, feeling sick to your stomach or feeling dizzy.

If you’re not sure you or someone close to you is having a heart attack, have it checked out. Acting fast can save lives. Don’t wait. Call 911.
