AHRQ Patient Safety Indicator Composite
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) adopted Patient Safety Indicators (PSI) developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) for the Reporting of Hospital Quality Data.
Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs) are a set of indicators providing information on potential in-hospital complications and adverse events following procedures, surgeries and childbirth. PSIs can be used to help hospitals identify potential adverse events, how often they occur and how to improve.
